Home/Meet the Team

It takes a team to deliver a great performance. The Alienation Speaking Group has five members that make it all happen. Each person has an important role to create the most impactful, engaging, entertaining and memorable experience. While Kevin, Russ and Larry share their stories and messages, Christina and Richard provide important support to deliver the overall impact.

Kevin Mark was injured playing hockey when he was 16 years old in Yorkton, SK. He has been living life as a quadriplegic for over 30 years. Kevin has overcome many challenges to build a successful career in engineering and sales. He has been married for 25 years and has an adult step son. Kevin is a member of Toastmasters International and represented Alberta and Saskatchewan at the World Championships of Public Speaking in 2011. Kevin has been speaking to hockey teams and schools for over 15 years. He uses his experience to connect with students and to help them make their lives better.

Russ Dantu moved to Calgary, from Gloucester, England when he was 9 years old. On his first day of school in Canada, he showed up in a plaid sports coat, shirt and tie…..the bullying began immediately!

Although he made many friends in his youth, he also faced the harsh reality of racism and bullying which lead to his journey into the life of drugs and alcohol. Russ did his very best to annoy his parents, his teachers and many of his classmates growing up. Because of the valuable life lessons he learned along the way, he now shares powerful stories and messages with our leaders of tomorrow. A professional speaker for more than a decade, Russ inspires, motivates and invokes change in his audiences. He will leave you on the edge of your seat wanting more! Russ resides in Calgary with his wife, Sonia and Golden Retriever, Shylo and has two grown children who also tested his patience during their youth…what comes around, goes around!

Larry Dixon grew up on a farm in Ontario, In his teens and early 20’s he used alcohol to try to fit in. He has enjoyed 38 years of sobriety. Larry bounced back and has been living a dream life as RAINBOW the clown for 28 years. He is married to his childhood sweetheart Karen. Larry has five adult children and seven grandchildren and cares about the future of our youth. He shares his insight into success, overcoming adversity, goal setting and creating the future you want. Larry touches the hearts of not only teenagers, but adults as well, with his down to earth openness. He has entertained audiences from P.E.I. to Vancouver Island, as well as Oregon, Washington, Montana, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.

Christina Kruis facilitates the presentations. She engages the students to make sure they are ready to listen, participate and remember the messages. She leads the exercises and challenges the students to be their best. Christina is presently on the executive team of District 42 Toastmasters, a communication and leadership organization. As a teacher, she has witnessed the benefits of educating and encouraging youth to become caring, productive individuals. Through her involvement in Toastmasters and her over 20 years of experience as a teacher and coach, Christina believes strongly in educating and motivating students to create the best opportunities for success. She works with Alienation bringing a strong message to youth about resiliency and making the world a better place. Christina and her husband, Jan, have four adult children. Together they enjoy skiing, hockey, rugby and swimming. They love to travel and exploring diverse cultures around the world.

Richard Mowry brings Alienation to life. Richard sets up all the audio and visual equipment and runs the show. With four speakers interchanging constantly, pictures changing, videos and music, Richard has his hands full. Richard is a person of many hats.  Over the years he has accumulated immense experience as a parts man, computer operator, computer support, truck driver, photographer, videographer, sound engineer, pilot, and flight instructor. Currently he is concentrating on video and sound engineering and is always eager to learn new techniques of video editing.  His hobbies include video, photography and learning.  When you work at something you enjoy you never work a day in your life. Richard enjoys the challenges involved in ensuring the Alienation’s message finds it’s way to as many students as possible.  There is nothing Richard can’t handle when you need a technical support person.
